CR2 is a digital photography raw image file format developed by the Japanese multinational corporation, Canon Inc. CR2 file format is based on TIFF specifications and stores uncompressed lossless data from the camera's CCD (Charged Coupled Device). It is the raw format used by various Canon digital cameras including EOS 1D Mark IV, EOS 450D, and EOS Rebel T3.
Canon Raw version 2 (CR2) format was introduced by Canon in 2004, replacing its previous format, CRW. In 2018 Canon released CR3, the successor of the CR2 format.
