Microsoft Excel Macro-Enabled Spreadsheet (.xlsm)

An XLSM file is a type of Excel workbook that is macro-enabled and created in Excel 2007 or later. It is similar to an XLSX file but can execute embedded macros programmed in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

Like XLSX files, XLSM files use XML and ZIP to store data in cells arranged in rows and columns. The data can be organized within separate sheets in a single workbook.

To open and edit an XLSM file, you can use Excel version 2007 or newer. If you have an earlier version of Excel, you can still work with XLSM files by installing the free Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack.
