PPSX stands for PowerPoint Slide Show. It is a file format created by Microsoft PowerPoint or another presentation program for slide show playback. A PPSX file contains a collection of slides that can hold video, audio, text, animations, images, and other media objects. It is used for presenting purposes and can be played without opening the PowerPoint editor.
PPSX files are created using Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and above and serve as an update to the PPS file format that was supported by Microsoft PowerPoint 97-2003 versions. When a PPSX file is shared with another user and opened, it starts as a PowerPoint show, unlike a PPTX file that opens in editable mode.
PPSX files are created in Office OpenXML file format and share the same structure as PPTX files. Based on the zipped XML file format, it adheres to the specifications outlined in the Microsoft PPTX file format document. In order to open the PPSX files in editable mode, these need to be opened from within Microsoft PowerPoint. You can also convert a PPSX file to other formats such as PPTX, MP4, PDF, etc.
