The GNM file format is associated with Gnumeric, an open-source spreadsheet application developed by the GNOME Project. This format is used to create spreadsheet files that store formatting information, charts, and other data. GNM files are similar to Excel spreadsheet files (XLSX) in that they both contain data stored in the XML format and are compressed using GZIP compression.
Gnumeric aims to provide an open-source alternative to Microsoft Excel. Gnumeric supports several different file formats and can convert native GNM files to CSV, XLSX, Microsoft Works (WKS), HTML, LaTex, and Lotus 1-2-3.
