The Uniform Office Format (UOF) for spreadsheets, is a Chinese open standard designed for office applications. UOF, first introduced in 2007, utilizes XML-based data and compression techniques to store information efficiently, akin to Microsoft Office Open XML and OASIS OpenDocument formats. Although not universally compatible with other formats, it is supported by various applications. This format aims to streamline the use of spreadsheets in a standardized and accessible manner.
The FODS (OpenDocument Flat XML Spreadsheet) file extension, developed by Oracle, is used for storing spreadsheet data in a plain XML format, making it more human-readable and easier to generate automatically without a spreadsheet editor. Unlike the more common ODS format, which uses a ZIP container, FODS files are not supported by Microsoft Excel but can be opened with OpenOffice Calc. This format was introduced as part of the ODF 1.2 specifications by OASIS.
