Silicon Graphics Image (.sgi)

The Silicon Graphics Image (SGI) file format, developed by Silicon Graphics Inc. in 1995, is a raster graphics format designed for high-quality color images. It supports 8 to 32 bits per pixel, three primary color channels, and an optional alpha channel for transparency. The format employs run-length encoding (RLE) compression to minimize file sizes.
