Convert SYLK to FODS

The SYLK (Symbolic Link) file extension, primarily used in the context of data interchange between applications, was introduced by Microsoft. These files facilitate the transfer of spreadsheet data to programs like Microsoft Excel. SYLK files contain symbolic representations of spreadsheet information, streamlining data import and export processes. Although their prevalence has waned with the advent of more advanced formats, SYLK files remain an important part of data management history due to their role in early software interoperability and data exchange standards.
The FODS (OpenDocument Flat XML Spreadsheet) file extension, developed by Oracle, is used for storing spreadsheet data in a plain XML format, making it more human-readable and easier to generate automatically without a spreadsheet editor. Unlike the more common ODS format, which uses a ZIP container, FODS files are not supported by Microsoft Excel but can be opened with OpenOffice Calc. This format was introduced as part of the ODF 1.2 specifications by OASIS.
